Shams Bladna Children’s Magazine
Palestinian refugee camps, Lebanon

HOPING sponsored the publication and printing of the first two issues of Shams Bladna (‘Our Land’s Sun’) children’s magazine (1750 copies each). The magazine is an initiative that attempts to actively integrate young people into the design, writing and production of the magazine. The participatory process entailed youth workshops in various refugee camps in Lebanon held throughout the production process in order to constantly gain their input. These suggestions were then integrated into the second issue, which, like the first issue, was widely distributed in the Palestinian refugee camps in Lebanon. The project is administered by the General Union of Palestinian Women and the media Information Services Office with extensive collaboration with local community organizations.
