Connecting Palestinian Youth with the Older Generations through Oral History
In an effort to assist Palestinian youth living in the refugee camps in Palestine, Syria, and Lebanon learn about their own national history and past, the HOPING Foundation sponsored an innovative ongoing project to begin developing a history database created by refugee youth in several countries. Coordinated with local youth associations in Palestine and Lebanon, this project has provided training workshops and recording equipment for local youth centres, creating an educational project that crosses borders. In this project, young people devise and ask the questions, recording interviews with the older generation using audio and video, and archive and write the historical accounts.
